Flushing
Flushing
Affluent Chinese and Korean families have flocked to Flushing making it the largest Chinatown in New York City, as well as the largest urban area in the borough of Queens. In fact, Flushing has held the title as Queen's largest commercial district since the 1950's! Main Street which runs through Flushing's Center puts most "Main" streets to shame, with stores ranging from Benetton, Macy's, restaurants, fruit stands and independently owned businesses. While Northern Boulevard has less foot traffic, it still bustles as an extended Koreatown strip with car dealerships, restaurants and autobody shops. Flushing's current demographic profile is far different than its humble beginnings as a Dutch colony in the 1620s, and even though Flushing has its share of hustle and bustle there are many lovely green spaces like Kissena Park, with a lake, playgrounds, golf course and walking paths for its residents to enjoy!
Flushing is bound by Flushing Meadows Park and Utopia Parkway to the East, Whitestone Expressway and Bayside Avenue to the North, 64th Avenue to the South and Van Wyck Expressway to the West.
